The last couple of days I have been dwelling on this bit of scripture:
Mark 12:41-44 ESV
“And [Jesus] sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”
I find this striking because how often are we faced with the inadequacy of what we can bring to our Savior? It is so easy to dwell on the broken pieces of ourselves and wonder how God can possibly use it for Himself. But I invite you to become like this widow. To find your deep longing, and utter poverty and give all that you have to the Lord. Whatever you have, whether it be money or pride or your imperfect gift set. Be willing to give it to Him.
I am entering into that process right now.
Recently I was accepted to go on a three month mission trip to Cambodia. I feel like I don’t have much to offer the Lord, but that is the exact reason why I was chosen. The interview process was strenuous and I know that my brokenness was clear. Yet, I am fully willing to give it to Him and cast my pennies into His hands.
